I came across this post from cathy at Not Eating Out In New York asking Should we do as China when it comes to plastic bags.
I whole-heartedly agree - it's a horrendous waste, very bad for the environment - and is so unnecessary.

this is definitely an important issue. i've purchased a lot of the canvas bags that they sell at the grocery stores for $1, and I try to remember to use them every time!
I just need to throw a few in the backseat of my car so that i'll never find myself on my way to the store without one.
